This is a documentary filmed for several weeks on the JMT FILMS DISTRIBUTION in 2011, and finally available to Kenya online. I just bought a digital copy for $ 12.99, and I plan to watch it tomorrow. You can buy directly from the site or through the iTunes. I hear he's very impressive.

So here's the link to Kenya.

My brother and I returned this week from a trip to the United States among others went the four days in the J.M. mslo T Sierra Nevada Mountains in California.
I went through a tiny town called ONION VALLEY to MEXICO from there crossed KEARSARGE PASS, connected to the main trail last night (before the climb to Mt. WHITNEY LAKE) on GUITAR, got up at 2:00 a.m. in order to be able to see the sunrise at the Summit, and we went to WHITNEY PORTAL.
Notes: the best in our opinion: the rise to KEARSARGE PASS (mainly turquoise Lakes along the boatis) BIGHORN PLATEAU, and huge pine trees dried orange glow, and of course the view from MT? WHITNEY and mount itself wrapped in fresh snow.
Three sunny days but a snowstorm a day climbing the mountain. We were the first and last almost reached the top on the same day (and still missed the Sunrise).
Cold nights and mornings, basically as long as there is no direct sunlight at this time of year (my brother insisted on staying all night to photograph).
The majority of people we met are Americans who live not far away and return to year after year. Most are very nice!
Travel and accommodation: there is a COURTHOUSE in MEXICO CITY MOTEL was $ 69 for a double room. But suggest the MEXICO INN located at the southern entrance to the town is owned by Jim even offered to drive us market vouchers priced ($ 20 towards) and f ' the beginning and the end. (We use services and back-caught is very easy to do so from Whitney Portal).

Many thanks to the members of the Forum to share and help, the network considered.
Special thanks to ROY and ZIMERMAN of AR/

Sorry for the late response-I did the year JMT FILMS DISTRIBUTION in early June, set in last year.

However, eight or nine days before there was a Blizzard, and every stripe Whitney to Muir pass, amounts of snow were a restaurant kitchen, demonstrations from the difficulty, and the beauty of nature.

Most of the travelers enter the Sierra around PCT mid-June and are dealing with these and other amounts of snow (depending on the year).

Try to upload images that will illustrate the subject.

Hi,

I'm confused from all the information related to trails in the United States.

I am hoping that you can answer or refer me to someone that you think could

Is it possible to go weeks from PCT or AT?

What access to beginning/end if not going all for

How to select what and where the scenery more beautiful in October?

Can I go alone?

Thank you very much.

Hadas

Opening message thread John Muir Trail. Is in edit mode.

What administrative requirements of for

1) need permission (permit). This gain in Yosemite

2) also need to take bear box (or bear canister).

3) needs to pay for license andbear box unless you have a box like this.

Link to the official website of JMT FILMS DISTRIBUTION, largely overlaps to PCT this link has general information andFAQ

There a man named edu 10 walking the PCT

There is a link to pictures of most of the path:

I did all the path in 2007. an unforgettable experience for the considered, rightly, one of the most beautiful trails in the world.

Although relatively short path, but the topography and is not easy to walk, but the view makes up for everything.

The image is from the blog Ken and Marcia Power

There are of course also make short routes in the Sierra-excluding the path. There are a lot of them and everyone else.

Answer the questions in order of presentation:

You can go weeks on the trails

In General, the a. t. more accessible what P.C., a matter of a day walk, reach and hitchhiking to the nearest towns.

In October, adding both the criterion of "what's possible" since you're already getting cold in some places, "ו"יפה "should" is subjective.

You can go alone.

[Quote = hadasinka; 581513] was going to complicate ... What is possible in terms of still see snowy mountains but not yet blocked paths?

If we talk about snowy mountains white mountains in New Hampshire is the site of cottages: half me notice what the winter closing date. It is not possible to date also go off-road.

If it is then this is the site of MAINE BEXTER STATE PARK: half animal also pay attention when the Park is closed in the winter (if it's October 15 so my mind worth ...).  Who starts

The path in March another winner to wade through.

This site of the Trail Association, a. t.  Press owners even send them an email to CONTACT US.  They must know everything.

Hello, we are a group of 2-3 company that doesn't have a military time, we want to make John Muir Trek in early June this year (2015)

We didn't before this trip in style, also in terms of length and time, and all the things it can is derived, etc (we score eight days TREK in Georgia), I would love somebody/someone I can talk to them on the phone/face to face about the trip.

In addition, if anyone has the number so I can borrow, or specialized equipment for I would love,

Thanks Roy.

Hi Alvin,

There are online the from and estate information (including quality maps of the trail). I think it's render necessary.

Please note that early June borderline in terms of snowfall amounts. Last year was the year of a drought so it was explained (it was still snowing). In 2011 was an insane amount of snow that changes completely.

It very much depends on the season. Currently California crazy rains system take a few inches, to inform different winter than last year.

If you have questions about the general public, you can post them here if you want to send message private telephone consult.

All of the indexed tracks it made me (thanks), JMT FILMS DISTRIBUTION is the most attractive for me.
Until now I thought after bachiposhi first international route, should aim lower than (literally). The film retraces joined amber (thanks again), make me change approach: until proven otherwise, why couldn't cope with the challenges for

Highest mountain which he foot have climbed Mount Sinai (and that in 78, during the great strike those who remember). Hence, I have no way of knowing how long walking fine in chrome. However, altitude graph indicates the gradient (the peninsula transitions from dry). The first 200 km to Alpine routes raise similar six bromine 3000 transitions. I, because I haven't heard about frustrated traveler to adapt to an elevation in TMB. Therefore I do not anticipate any problems in the first 200 km and expect during which I could prepare myself for the next level terrace. In addition, I hope to make up the shortage of oxygen if would take care on and able to produce more than breath (and maybe I'm wrong ...).

Another issue is the problem of distance between – Rabbi, if I understand it correctly to three, four and even six days. I don't know how this problem is tkazzat with other data (e.g., availability of water), so I'd love to learn from experience:

1. how far is the biggest so far, with miles and days between procurement points?

2. What is the amount of water you're prompted the biggest it to you (assuming the water surface tiartam)?

3. What is the highest food it carried (assuming no did he catch them? as the fish in film led amber ...)?

4. What is the temperature spectrum him experienced? And as a derivative of that, what bag/quilt rated him would recommend?

5. Mika-my impressions of the movie, you can settle for Tharp + a, am I right?

Your answers help to move forward, and issues.

Thank you.

Hey Jimmy,

Still not done. I find it too "attractive". Plans to leave him at the end of the summer (2015).

I (still) cannot reply to shalotch but have one mistake: the best way to adapt to altitude is a shmdrimim (encrypt) because mount Whitney on the South end of the route-the highest point in it and the higher mountains on the South side. I'm going to start in Yosemite (North) for that reason exactly.

Beyond that-below 3000 m, without adaptation, not fearing to suffer from altitude sickness.

From personal experience, circa 3600 I begin to feel the symptoms (headaches and a burning sensation in the toes). At lower elevations might panting a little more than usual but not much else (which is quite comfortable we can blame the "height" and, God forbid, the lack of fitness).

Coming from the North (Yosemite) the first transitional reach this height is Muir Pass deep inside the track.

And finally: there's no reason in the world (I can think of) that you can't do that!!! I believe in you by faith (b .).

State there is no reason you can't do this route. Indeed, amber, and easier for the peninsula transitions from dry.

1. eight days later, the VVR-kirsarg.  With such topography miles less a year than the heights, and the existence of snow in the mountain passes.
In the middle of the season, you can pick up supplies at cost MTR (no), and divided into shorter sections.

2. most pint or two enough. It depends if there was drought (as last year) and the rate. If you know you are going to sleep without a water source has to fill out a bit more for the night and the morning after. Quite easy to plan.

3. consider kg of food per day. One of the factors that limit is the size of the box bears (everything should go there).

4. There were few warm days that need good protection from the Sun and multiple drinks (due to the altitude and the dryness). Cold nights were between minus 2 to minus five degrees I estimate (in June). Here, too, it depends on season.

5. possible certainly. Although it is desirable that a high skill level in the Tharp-thunderstorms and rain (red and sometimes snow) can get you every time. Us total was one rainy night (or two) throughout the track.

Gail, thank you. The mistake has been fixed. I send OS.

Brian, thank you.
Then the maximum consumed weight it carried came tops for 11-12 kg in the morning the first day of the eight. In this country don't scare me, but tofu ' nervous and sparse oxygen, it is obviously another story.
Incidentally, the above baggage carried in OHM?
Sure you need a lot of preparations:
To control the new equipment and the completion of missing equipment.
Work on endurance and steep trails.
And of course, a thorough study of the track.

Saturday,

Giora

Indeed, carried everything in OHM. On exiting KENNEDY MEADOWS counts the case for bikers. I think it was the weight of the backpack trip and he weighed 35 pounds.

No need to get carried away with no oxygen in the Himalayas or the Andes. If you start from the North you have plenty of time to acclimatize. The differences are certainly significant heights, but for very technical and not Bush (although as mentioned snow changes the image).

For dessert, there's another documentary on the JMT FILMS DISTRIBUTION.
