WHR-review course-11 days + free half day (August 23 to September 3, 2013)

In this track we five (from left to right): Dorit Amir, Fortuna, Amnon, Shai.

Day 1-the cable car station to Le Tour Les through White Lake
ELAL's morning flight to Jamaica ($ 540) of the cable-car station Les AlpyBus at Les Praz-according to € 25 per person. Funicular 1880 height (12.5€)
500 m climb up to the Lake. Lunch stop at Lac Blanc drop of 900 m. 200 m to Chalet Alpin du Tour costs € in half board

Highlights to this segment. It's a common thing to TMB and WHR. This is one of the busiest sections of the cabin and TMB Lac Blanc tends to be swamped with visitors so that the service rate. During the entire movement into great observations have on the ridge and Valley monblan. The quality of observations depends of course on meteorological conditions. The decline of the Lake pretty long and incorporates a number of ladders. At the end of the descent is expecting her surprise and definitely exhausting right up to the cabin. Excellent opening total.

Day 2-from Le Tour to Chalet Les way Between Champex and mountain pass the Arpette Fenetre

It was started and turned to a horrible nightmare. We opened the day with two cable cars (€ 20.5) until near France's border with Switzerland in sound. From the easy way in decline towards her cabin near the cabin but it's quite a lengthy period of more than 200 m height some price out. In this section, there were significant deviations between the estimated time to the signs of the hour group shafar approaching 50% extra time on the signs. A lovely cabin, family mtopalet has a reduction of relative rest for about an hour and a half to half and lunch at the Chalet Du Glacier. During the descent, there's a good view on the past and Trientglacier arpet. Our troubles began right after lunch. During the climb to the pass the arpet rain easy, which grew stronger as we. The ascent itself took us 3 hours and the rain did not stop for a moment. In addition to rain was also pretty thick fog and wind. The whole thing went soaking in water, shake and drop source view. The decrease in the pouring rain took us three hours to Relais d ' Arpette arrived for her 8 in pathetic. 70 francs to HB.

Across the border to Switzerland this morning. At this stage no clouds heralds the expected within three hours.

The famous scene after Le Grand Chalet

Day 3: from Champex to Prafleuri Cabane
A day long and challenging weather conditions. Take morning bus from the map of the city and then two trains Orsieres (15 francs) to the cable car station at La Chable. There are two cable cars to Union Station at Les Ruinettes 2200 meters tall (20 francs) and then, at 10:30 a.m., we started the 20 km leg of the third day. The weather was cloudy and Misty with temperature around zero. All the snow from the area early in the morning until 10:00. Until you pass the walk from Termin station was convenient but cloud, so we didn't see anything. The slow progress towards apas pass Louvile when the set occasionally fragmented mist that allowed partial views. The pass itself, in the final stages, steep boulders and as expected from an Alpine pass. The decline of apas is similar to her brother and the big desert with the Lake and the surrounding glaciers. Sign in to vendor led indicates is ridiculous to pass prflori (Prafleuri) something like an hour and ten minutes. Perhaps a good time to refresh traveler who goes in dry weather, but it is an indication of a growing group of exhausted in heavy fog and snow. It took us two hours to get to pass prflori. The pass is very difficult thing because it pass in that day, but mainly because of psychological difficulty because there is a long descent before starting to get to him. The descent is on large boulders and she takes a lot of time in damp and cold conditions. Only at 7 reached the pass and sign indicate hour descent to prflori hut. At this point we now hail and snow and carried arpet fatigue from yesterday's loss. To the Prafleuri hut we were 15 (Frank HB 65) but alas, we found the cabin sits on a 60 m cliff. It was a point of exhaustion and eventually just filthy nshpachno into the dining room, where most of the attendees were at the company during the meal. Despite the late arrival, we got to a great treat and happy Forum meeting with Israel. The cabin has the most interesting sanitary room. This all-inclusive room. Also change the men, brushing the teeth area showers and toilets — all in one involved both men and women. It must be a strange experience for a girl to wash the face and teeth while guys pissing 2 feet from her. Not to mention the shower in three minutes 5 francs when the hot water run out after 20 seconds. Oh well, our situation wasn't the most important thing. The point we got. Photos as expected I walking day.

Day 4: from Cabane Prafleuri to Arolla
The Sun finally came out (but not for long). The morning began with a short steep climb to the hut on Lake vistas de DIS (Des Dix). The cold was still hard and had thermal clothing and gloves. Lake surfing made a short break in the unmanned cabin (La Barma) who has an open kitchen for own use. Away was a short decline added to a gravel road that goes around the Lake and walk 5-6 miles are flat led us to climb steep DNA de DIS (2850 m). The 600-year-old climbing section m, part of the team, given the endless daily we passed, and the rate of climb was slow. Chalet de DIS is great on a hill overlooking Cheilon glacier . After lunch we are smug, a cabin and crossed the glacier to climb the steep ladder into the keeper of Pas de Chevres. From there all the way down a long and easy to areola and the serious. Grand Hotel Kurhaus. This is a hotel with a great atmosphere and great food. It is located in a forest just a short walk from the town centre, the bus station and a good sports shop (Frank 65 half board).

Day 5: from Cabane De Moiry Arolla to via the Col Du Tsate mountain
Another day with a lot of ups. After savoring breakfast at the hotel, take bus 10 to Les Hauderes City (pronounced: Le zoder ) away at an altitude of 1440 m long on her first crossing altitude 2900 m Tsate that her hard through the grazing areas with beautiful back view observations of apas himself very disappointing you don't see from Lake glacier viiri viiri or only small glacial Lake is dry weather at this time of the day (15) became overcast and rain began to descend the apas were approximately 500 m to a glacial Lake. While surfing improved observations and discovered the Lake and glacier viiri. We reached the glacier lake in rain man, dried and then the sign showed an hour and ten minutes until the hut viiri (not a mistake and choose the right option as Israel demanded, finally, crossing the viiri). We discovered again the gap between the signs for the actual type. It took us more than two hours to climb to the cabin, though this is a pretty tough climb of 500 m in srpentinot and because of the heavy rain turned to snow at 2600 and covered all around. As usual with us (this time the accusation late areola) we reached the cabin during dinner and we sat eating wet, before we could settle on. We met in a group of four young Israelis who go off the path. I am full of appreciation for the wonderful location Swiss of the huts. Each cabin requires strenuous work so far. The viiri, for instance, cannot see every step of the climb until you are 20 m. The food in a luxurious cabin, relative to the other. The living room is divided into old and new. Some expensive new francs and called comfort rooms. They are located on the second floor of the newly built cabin three years ago. Showers in the new building work (as usual) on chips, but surprisingly there is free flow of hot water in the sinks. Viiri is a most precious cabin. 85. Frank to half board in comfort room and request requires a down payment of 40 francs per person. It is important to know that the sum of the deposit is not returned if cancellation of accommodation becomes less than 24 hours from date of arrival.

Day 6: from Cabane De Moiry to Zinal
Today our lightest first. The weather was relatively fast, short track and the route is very easy. Add to that the cable car that goes to zinel and save 1000 m descent, and here we have, at best, a day of rest for body and soul. Descending from a shack we schedule viiri It's a completely different story to make the descent without snow and fresh body. Continue walking along the shore of Lake provided plenty of wonderful viiri photo opportunities and the option if the weather was a little warmer. Lunch in a restaurant on the embankment and then easy climbing 500 m to Sorebois vendor and surfing on the cable service to zinal (15 francs). Total day's walk light of 4 hours. Please note that the cable launches to zinal one every hour. So plan your arrival accordingly. At zinal chose to stay at the hotel La Pointe has excellent cuisine and excellent. The half-board price 80 Frank. But there is no dormatori of 4-5. Important tip for zinal area-hotel Cook in town, get the card allows free travel on buses and free use of cable cars. Who plans a vacation day in town can use this card.

Day 7: from Zinal to Cabane Bella Tolla
Easy day two. The weather finally warmed up a few degrees and the sky cleared room for more sunshine hours which feel wonderful! The morning opened with no easy cruise height of zinal 2400 meters and easy walk along the line to break for lunch at the hotel Weisshorn (equal and varied menu). Away an hour and a half walk lightly until Bella Tola hut which is great for unobstructed in all directions. Conditions in the cabin and once hot water is flowing freely and abundantly! The food, however, was a catastrophe. Spaghetti without sauce and completely dry chicken while roasting. 60 francs to HB.

Day 8-Cabane Bella Tolla to Gruben

Great day walk back to be a little less physical, but as they were the first few days. The Bella Tola hut type to pass Du Boeuf 2935 m tall was relatively simple and mostly on Jeep runs good long break down apas in the Lake Meidsee and from there all the way down a long and tiring of town Groban town lavarre at Waldesruh was a little too Christian for my taste and very little compensation came in the form of good food, excellent and unrivalled price-45 route to HB.

Day 9-Gruben Grachen until
Wonderful weather this morning we began to pass our track-Augstbordpass ninth day of Alpine route, the body no longer Super 1000 m and increases the number of pauses until the crossing is reduced dramatically, it was a busy morning travellers compared to the previous days and the feeling was a little bit of walking on TMB and less on WHR, descent to the village of apas and of Jungen cableway is long and strewn with boulders in the first two hours, there is still some good observations about the peaks of 4000 + but when approaching the Valley lies צ'רמט Begin to see very closely the snowy peaks, not the Matterhorn! He was still hidden at this stage by formidable peak of 4000 +. The cable car goes to St. Niklaus is interesting. Loading out the bags and the activists. Buy tickets after the fact down town (11 Frank). The cable station is located next to the train station from which we took bus to Grachen beautiful city (part of the grachn and greshn part name). The tpnkano in Gracherhof Spa Hotel was recently renovated and has all kinds of saunas and an excellent chef restaurant has an impressive wine list. The hotel isn't cheap (120 francs), but the price includes a 5-course chef. Recommended.

Day 10 m Grachen until Europahutte
It was a disappointing day with the Europaweg Trail Engineering Spa "German" and we shofim and trail segments to the morning began with an easy 100 m greshn and a fairytale forest walk, with mushrooms and red fruit bar for me the Europaweg itself begins with an impressive statue that appears in any of the WHR in post road had to climb steeply to forest above the trees from the statue to the first wooden bridge , For maintenance mode and surprising he don't charge victims every year. There are at least three points that you need to cross fields boulders that careless tutor on one of them could lead to greater state breakdown for greatly improved after the first wooden bridge with respect to Swiss, Germany had never confirmed such a shabby wooden bridge this bridge in Nepali level feels at Europaweg after several miles she ebony poante and can skip the sequel I really have no reason to go all for bolderim. Although, to date, the second part of the trail is closed in several places and not just the bridge after European cabin. Undoubtedly the trail requires refresh or another thought about safety. I can't understand the logic on which to cross dangerous time zone quickly collapse. If the area is prone to collapse, to pass a Bill. What helps me quickly if I thing just gets landslide? It's not like there's nowhere to hide. However, the Europaweg exposed to Sun and wind have good mothering in suntan lotion and carry enough water the first thing completely dry until crossing a river a few kilometers before European cabin. The cabin itself is one of the less good. Considering hotels Brenda, had a time of decline, it was a mistake to waste time in this cabin. Lame food cans and dormatori. Maybe just snapped at that point and wood shacks chips for 2-3 minutes.

The beginning of the walk in the forest of greshn

This part should run under the sign:

Were confirmed in Germany, an improvised wooden bridge.

Finally some water after a long walk overland

Day 11-
Europahutte to Zermatt
The strong feelings of the track we're European breakfast Shack is upgraded restaurant is recommended after the town. The intention was to proceed on the route of the Europaweg low but after climbing a few hundred feet above the Valley, cruising altitude, even at this altitude, close to Chile due to landslides in choice, we went back to the Valley and on the panorama route that follows the route of the train track that צ'רמט a little annoying passing through a gravel quarry in way plus, that's a valley of unpleasant heat exposure after being used for a source anyway. After a few hours, and in total 20 km, route צ'רמט Center when we pass the entrance across the pad were very active in recent days. In the tpnkano superior boutique hotel it took great duplex apartment (165 francs per person bed and breakfast). The self-indulgence of Hammam and Jacuzzi and a good meat in a restaurant this day agreed Snowboat and the track accompanied by a satisfying end to a grueling route and pleasures of the vicissitudes of weather.

Picking wild strawberries on the way. These beautifully sweet

12. increase in cable cars to the little Matterhorn (Klein Matterhorn) and the Ice Cave

As the invitation we received on the last day of perfect weather. This justifies the investment of 99 francs to qualify in two cable cars (almost an hour away) to the top of the Matterhorn and a visit to the Ice Cave. The card at 99 Frank is actually a single daily ski pass more servant who wished to surf during the day. Who travel for enjoyment, not using the card correctly but the pleasure is hard to resist. Anyway, the first cable car stops at mid station where you can come down and shoot the Matterhorn view from different angles. The first cable car gondola moving 101 's man mafila to 3880 m maximum height and then go down the elevator to the Ice Cave. The visit to the cave but not particularly exciting. One could expect a little more "action" sculpture, lighting and also in the various activities. The Matterhorn is an active and busy ski resort. Ski enthusiasts can rent equipment and spend on site all day surfing conditions. We had a half day and 30 us on the train to Visp there switched to Geneva Airport (total 97 francs from Czechoslovakia to crush the Swiss rail prices).

Several
The track is hardly surprised. It is true that chose the uriantim worse, but I didn't expect him to be so challenging in five days. The TMB the route much easier and far more forgiving. TMB has also steep boulders arm passim, but there are also many convenient pause videos and lots of options. Regardless of the weather conditions, the transition of the walking mob arpet port to three way prflori and passim to a through pass Tsate viiri zoder dress they son the hardest toughest Alpine routes. When you add to this the factor of rain snow fog and wind, it becomes a survival mission.

The trail also surprised me in the minority, the relatively early stage of the end of the season in late August. Entire sections which had not met a soul and the occupancy in cabins was very low. The obvious conclusion is that there is no reason to invite the huts outside high season. Many times we get to be almost alone.

concluding comments

The times specified in signs can cause deep frustration at the beginning of the runway, when the body was yet. To stand in this magnificient sign. Make your way through time and a triangle than indicated by the sign, it more or less normal. Sometimes it's hard to understand where the Swiss take their time estimates. Suppose and downhill section and sign up in 1 h. You're normal pace, without any break, and it takes you two hours. That is 100% in simple drop! How is this possible in Switzerland, where everything is measured in milliseconds? The explanation is given in the second part of the path when suddenly start on time of the signs. I.e. the problem is us rather than signs. We just reach for some lazy and it takes us a while to get to forma. Solid signs high requirements and refer to the hikers who go the net without significant interruptions. Therefore, my recommendation is not to stress the basic exceptions in the early days. After 5-6 days all align to the standard.

About mobile, I used the SIM card Swisscom's Swiss it purchased at the post Office at Geneva airport. The post office is located on the right as you exit the baggage collection area. I bought my ticket 20 franc and after many local calls and SMS + call one international, I still have at the end of track 10, Frank on the card. Recorded along the uneven track. In some places there is no signal and reception excellent. It depends on the proximity of the course and location of the cabin. All was free WIFI in the lobby and in the rooms.

Used GPS navigation Grameen's eTrex30. He acts great in wet and cold conditions only a pair of AA batteries had an average daily source instead of an average of three days. In addition to Grameen took 1 000 maps as a backup but never opened them. There's no real need for this route map. He controls intensively and is marked on the rocks. Grameen has served me more to statistics than distances and Emden. However, it is mandatory to take maps that sometimes you have to make changes to the track and roads. So not here that I recommend to give up. Never

The water available throughout the track. Great water don't require purification. Who can be a little afraid with any source of water above 2600 m and a lot of them. We're both free from anhalim and felt safer with it than a drinking water taps. This is the most ridiculous thing to buy in a bottle of mineral water and a half liter at 8. Sometimes the shit out of laziness, but when I think about it get the absurd size.

Schedules are in Switzerland. If you need to leave the train at 8:26 am so is the road on the other. You can set the clock by trains and buses. The accuracy is amazing. If the area of abandoned cable I had to leave three minutes, he leaves exactly three minutes and not wait a second to see if someone accidentally delayed. Here won't help to wave his hands and begging the driver to open the door. Another five seconds? Wait for the next round.

Also for cleaning is something languish away. It is impossible to understand such cleanup Granulation of pollution there. All polished and ready to order. When you see it you realize that it's all about. The trail is clean because there are no garbage bins along or volunteers who collect the dirt. It is free just because people educated from age zero to treat nature with respect and to keep it. People who drink beer and eat free but nobody think to throw away the wrapper or shim. What more natural and taking out the trash with you and throw it in the cabin? It's all about education and this is the best thing we have. Also in Switzerland and travellers have families coming to the picnic, all glossy like nobody visited there before. This way should we wish it too. It depends only on us.

Hey Amnon,

Thanks for a great summary! I print it to take with me.
We're going tonight. So early Thursday morning.

One critical question: Pack tent + all the meanings with which (km mattresses etc)
We decided to take in order to be more flexible during track (many cabins are starting to close up 15 travellers, 21st), and some for the experience-we know it's probably done in 2-3 nights-...

What are you saying? What would you recommend? Redundant?

Thanks a lot!

I think this, but to travel 53 years old.
You with a wizeriia average of 70 francs to HB
Add some wine and treats and you get easily to 100 francs per person.
This is almost double than in France and therefore save myself cooking tent is very significant.
But if your consideration is not only economic but due to anxiety-fear not closed cabins. There are plenty of alternative cabins
I've been coming to this track with a tent only if I had the money to pay for accommodation in chalets and hotels.
That's the only relevant consideration. All other considerations of "connecting" nature or not snoring in dormatori, not sound convincing to me.
But it may be connected with the fact that I am one of the snore others fleeing him.

Don't need to flee to tent the snoring! A good pair of earplugs are (almost) nothing, (almost) anything and do the job.

Amnon, waited for reporting! Thank you. I haven't read but get it.

About the europaweg, read a lot about him before I left. Some of the ideas expressed reservations about the nature and location of the trail, said he "built" too sensitive, vulnerable and weather are significant and tachofot, he didn't "survive". See review in this case is very justified. I think every year (I went in 2011) for worse quality and becomes more and more dangerous. I enjoyed it very much but I skipped that part very damaged in winter before answering it. Being Switzerland assumed damaged parts repaired (Swiss standard) but apparently not. Therefore, I think that did survive trail long. Io_travel 41527.4415046296

Amnon,

Great summary and felt the story that moved a little experience beyond what you expected and I hope you got that's for the best , anyway, for worth it and good preparation can only increase the enjoyment of it.

"The Prafleuri hut we not at 20:15 (Frank HB 65) but alas, we found the cabin sits on a 60 m cliff.
Some snow (depth/length) was on the route between MONT FORT to the PRAFLEURI?
We also took into that rain and the Americans went in slow rate of us arrived an hour and a half cabin us exactly as described in the point of exhaustion.

Hope you had some serious rain gear that made the classic mistake of thousands started very late the routes most days and therefore captured many rain/snow. Notice that most Europeans have always experienced at first light and go out in the afternoon already sitting and drinking a beer after the shower on the deck of a bungalow.

Maybe you're right on all points. We went too late to through and have taken many breaks. That's how we got all of the afternoon.
In the section between loads to prflori there was no accumulation of snow. It melts with the touch screen. It was more snow than Sleet
Our rain gear stood in the rain for six consecutive hours and water infiltrated backpacks and clothes.
From my experience only Cape protects backpack properly. The pod cover water will find a way down if it's raining hard and long.
And of course it's always good to put things in a backpack inside plastic bags.
You have been through experiences in snow with serious weight on your back. We went through the rain with relatively little experience.

The summary level too. This makes the tizeron without rloventi compared to some other forum summaries.

Firstly, thank you.
Secondly, I agree about the unnecessary friendly guide.
After reading all the summaries of my predecessor, I realized that I bought just the book. There's really no significant information in another book.
I took the track but after seeing that any use of it remains in one of the huts.

Great summary and beautiful pictures
Actually ב"מרחק is touching" multi track I had one day with rain and snow (MONT FORT to PRAFLEURI) as Elie writes made to leave early and the rain was started with a beer at the cabin or hotel.
It seemed the clouds towards the Arpette Fenetre from MONT FORT CAB at 1:30 p.m. on the day you went there.

And this pic I remembered her hiking Fortuna in St. Nikolaus

I remembered your promise "anyway, if you get stuck in bad weather, you can build on a triangle or Toblerone Perlin of Leonidas has

Great summary. Thank you! Hope I need.

About Amber's comment about the weather-you're not alone.
Tirkano 9 days without rain in Norway at all (including bright weather completely in fannarkhytta under the statistics appear 5 days per year).

In three weeks of tourism (trekking + excursions) experienced three days of rain. Or two of them.

Dawn, I'm really glad to hear, I remember you were a little concerned about the weather. Also available, by the "us" and was an excellent weather in TMB. Good luck ... Io_travel 41528.5420601852
