כללי:

Bill Alta Via 2 AV2 (Alta via 2 = > height road No. 2) in the Dolomites in Italy, is the old, harsh, demanding and less spoilt of height no. 1 it just outlined in detail in the Forum last summer. AV2 route is not recommended as first choice for the traveler who wants to see routes in Europe as it is in difficulty medium high and dangerous to walk in the southern part of inconvenient weather conditions. The track includes sections of snowshoeing and glacier climbing Marmalade ... and that includes the many through fragments of iron " Via Ferrata (VF) namely ladders, cables and metal spikes designed to facilitate offenses.

Hiking season:

Hiking season is from late June to late September but unlike AV1 track I wouldn't reach for before the end of July because big sections may still be snow covered. We went the first week of August and had to go through a snowy scenes including VF segments where we had to maneuver on the rocks without the Security cables and pegs were buried under the snow. The perfect period to AV2 route is from mid-August until mid-September and unlike AV1 track track is packed with travellers, so that during the week the cabins remain empty and the need to reserve them in advance exists only on weekends when they are filled with visitors.

Degree of difficulty, and cover the animals:

This is one of the most demanding tracks of Europe including the number and types of sharp declines close to 45%. In ideal conditions will route to a medium difficulty + only but in rainy weather, winds or fog conditions, in the southern central part is difficult and sometimes dangerous. During the track lines cross no less than 19 passes Ministers when in the past two days across the trail not exceeding half a meter in maximum time and leveling him threatening to divide even tangible weather conditions. In terms of cover then trail runs mostly above the tree line and his bare Alpine landscape typical of the Dolomites with multiple ranges and cockscomb cloves pointy rock. In early August, Bloom still at its height and is characterized by colorful floor rugs at low altitudes above 2000 m. The trail filled with animals and have a lot of cows, sheep, wild goats, Gazelles, rock, birds of all kinds, some horses and snakes and fortunately the sounds and mosquitoes fly zero.

Some technical data
Global starting point: Stop

Practical starting point: Plose rafiog

Global endpoint: Feltre

End point: rafiog Croce d ' Aune

Global track length* (from city to city): 210 km

The actual track length (first to last rafiog rafiog): 180 km (for physically marked from Stop to Feltre but the beginning and ending segments generally do in the car).

The highest point in the prangolpass (Farangole ( 2932 m

Rpiogis and number of hotels along the route: over 30

Several days of walking to complete the route from town to town "by the book": 13 days

Several days of walking to complete the track rafiog to rafiog "by the book": 11 days

High gym owners can plan an itinerary by 8-10 days.

How to reach us:

The most convenient base for reaching (Dolomites and on track in particular) is the Verona in Northern Italy. Another option is Munich. Charter flights from Israel to Verona are typically cheaper and flexible than Munich and therefore treat only Verona points.

Getting there from the airport of Verona to the trailhead.

From Verona Airport take the bus to the train station of Verona. The bus stop is 50 m from the port and the Terminal buses depart from the airport every 20 minutes from 6:35 am to 11:35 pm. Time travel to Verona train station is half an hour and costs € postmark (Please make coins).

The train station in buying a ticket (first class air and slightly more comfortable seats second class) to Stop town (also called Bresnon). Travel time from Verona to Stop is two hours in the fast train (2nd 16.5 euro) and 15 hours on the slow train (10.55 euros). The price of a first-class ticket on 5-6 euros from second class.

Warning: because no trains running from a public address system to identify the different stations to lose Stop and station at another station. Travel times and pricing updated railway are advised to use the Italian railways website (enter: 1.  Verona at 2.   Stop over 3. Relevant date and time)

Arrival of train station Stop The trailhead at point Rif. Plose

Here are several options.

Option a grueling leg climb (1900 m altitude difference) of approximately 6 hours to rafiog (recommended only to those who have time and motivation).

An option on a bus to the cable car station of St. Andrea gondola (8.5 euros) to an elevation of 2000 m, and 400 m to rafiog. Please note that the cable closes exactly at 6 p.m.

C cab option to the cable-car station (25 euros) and follow the taxi option is always available while the bus is running on a lazy summer schedule.

Back to Verona from end point.

Return to Verona from end point of the path is a little more complex than to the starting point.

Whoever ends up walking in Croce d ' Aune can walk about 12 km road to Feltre , or wait patiently for a bus to take him (see Aune rafiog arrival time) or take a taxi at 25 euros directly to the train station of Feltre.

The train station of Feltre buys a bus ticket at the train station in the city of Trento and from there take a train to Verona.

Minimum time for arrival from Feltre to Verona via Trento without delays is at least three times, and usually the process takes approximately 5 hours. Who does not have budget problems can take a taxi directly from the end point of the path to Verona for a nominal fee of EUR 280 or alternatively rent a car in Feltre with back at the airport of Verona (who chooses the last option not to forget to bring the Israeli driver's license plastics).

Topographic maps of the route.

The route covered six maps in scale 1:25, 000 in the following order (from North to South)

  1. Map No. 30
  2. Map No. 7
  3. Map No. 15
  4. Map No. 6
  5. Map No. 22
  6. Map No. 23

There are also maps of scale 1:50, 000 but are uncommon and difficult to obtain.

Purchase maps.

Rafiog all, without exception, can I purchase a topographic map of the same section of the original price (7 euros per map) so there is no reason to carry any given point more than one map. The map (No. 30) can be purchased in the shop of St. Andrea (see directions to the trailhead) is open in the summer as the cable car 00.

Dividing the sections, and the story of the trail

The official story and allow the updated download link: AV02

Those interested only in the story of the file so that it is convenient for printing can Use this link

The huts along the route

The information I wrote on the correct orbit AV1 AV2 track too so there is no need to expand on this topic. The most and are based on dormatori sleep because if sleeping in small rooms housing between 2 and 8. All cabins offer a mattress sheet pillow and blankets so you don't need to carry on your back and sleeping bag to bring home just a sheet or pillowcase for those afraid of the level. All chalets ( Rif –. DalPiaz) has hot showers that little part of coin-operated (at least 5 minutes of good currency flow). All the huts there are of course invited brovo power comes from regional provider when canceling a generator.

Cellular and Internet availability

Cellular recorded in most parts of the route and a "relatively low" dead points. No way that is missing a signal for a day and when faced with a situation where no signal usually solves the problem of displacement of 50-100 m from the dead. About the Internet much less successful. All rpiogis no public Internet and most have no Internet at all. Who needs urgently need Internet access to one.

Critical equipment to track.

The name of the game is to carry the AV2 track almost on his back and dragging unnecessary things. True it is a short route, the kind that usually don't insist on excess grams as driving a routes yet and there is no justification for getting back on track with a backpack the weight exceeds 10 kg (without water).

What must not be allowed at any price.

1. good shoes, and a pair of forked sticks professional

2. rain jacket/wind walk + gloves

3. a t-shirt + thermal shirt for walking

4. shorts + long walk shorts

5. Insert hot brass t-shirt and after walk

Crocs shoes/Sandals 6 easily.

7. dark sunglasses (it is especially important to the snowy sections)

8. a hat, bandana, suntan lotion and lip cream 15 +.

9. first-aid kit (polidin, antiseptic ointment, bandage, bandages, knife etc.

And of course also in:

Good book, flashlight (illumination in often weak), camera, MP3, bathing and shaving, small towel

Bungalows prices and track (as of Summer 2009)
The uniform price and going for 49 euros per person with half board. Anyone who wants to understand how the price can take a look on the rpiogis pricing- and understand that root members is 30 Euro (Regina category) plus 15 euros on half board + 4 euros for a shower. In European Alpine owners Club membership pay only 35 euros per half board but the annual subscription have to spend in Europe and costs 45 euros. Additional information to join the Italian Alpine Club can be seen on this site or join form Austrian Alpine Club English site. There may be able to get Alpine membership through Israel. I haven't checked. Beyond the rpiogis they always half board, lunch or dinner in restaurant rafiog usually are within 4 hours from arpiog. Standard meal of pasta, salad and a drink cost around 10-12 euro and is therefore the correct pricing and check the day's itinerary is 60-70 euros per person per day.

Rpiogy and list major hotels along the way
The list below contains only those rpiogis that are directly on the road, or a slight variance, since they are the most realistic. Keep in mind that cell phone callers need to advance Israeli literature number 00 (operator) and call tariffs in Italy is an international call is performed through Israel.

The list is ready to print and file download can be downloaded at the link: AV2_Rif_Hotel_List

Search and rescue services and medical insurance
In Italy, as in most of Europe, provided the services free and rescue and helicopter rescue includes business and skilled 669 style. In a State of serious injury that does not allow for movement or self-extracting property to create call rescue team. The easiest and fastest is 118 number dial directly to the search and rescue Center, but you can also call the nearest rafiog to provide for the location and phone number and will get the rescue team (most of the rpiogis are used as main anyway search and rescue). If no signal from the injury, care for their partner to go higher than spot will be recorded. If I were injured in solo and we are alone in the field and not, have to wait until axis travel more-thing didn't take long in high season.

It is important not to leave wounded in the area without water and dress warm clothes. He must also find shelter in inclement weather.

All the above doesn't solve the traveler purchases a land of comprehensive health insurance and by no means free of credit insurance.
Please note that normal mountain walking there is no need for expansion of the policy to "extreme sports" because not heiking trekking and adventure sports.
However, I always make it a point to add to the policy of expansion "search, rescue and evacuation," said Terence shpinoi free at destination.
The reason is that I'm not taking any chances that the State changed rules or clauses have not covered except for the fly (say a rescue that needs to pull me out of a ravine). Just for my peace of mind worth paying a few extra bucks. Anyway you have to remember that in case of serious injury, a free rescue ends next to the hospital and from that moment began the charge entirely on him. True medical treatment and hospitalization costs in Italy are low relative to other countries in the EU, but still may day hospitalization to evaluate hundreds of thousands of euros, especially in complex analysis is required.

In short, not getting on track as dangerous as AV2 without medical insurance point!

The story summary + images in Division made nine days

Day walk no. 1 (rafiog rafiog-Schluter Committee Plose Genova)

I went on this trip and Eran (pictured top left) organized in 2003 the walking track TMB . Started in the Plose rafiog arrived at 4 p.m. after morning flight, train, taxi, cable car and pretty strenuous climbing, on no. 7, rafiog antennas placed on saturated dome exposed in stunning. After a short soup break and long went first and a restaurant on a side road and it started.

To advance to the first pass (pass) that separate us rafiog Genova. During the climb the first vendor I experienced physical crisis, is differences that resulted in essentially hobbies (Eran addicted to running a marathon and I'm beating armchair with beer and peanuts). The first pass is not difficult and is not particularly long, but a few hundred meters before the end I left me and my progress was difficult, series rescued from submissive slaves. I must say that with all my past experience the rich, didn't bother to carry in a backpack because energy source available (chocolate bar) and as a last resort that is scrounged this from Sedgwick fell Walker in front of almost powdered glucose that helped me psychologically to reach Abdul already started freezing on pass the setting sun. Here's how the approved measures were seen my last pass first.

The rafiog busy Due to tired light came last (21) and wereshowering in coins and in the Cabinet were summoned zaruri from Israel, has been closed and had to settle for lukewarm inistrona soup with bread.

Day walk no. 2 (Schluter-rafiog Genova and CIR hotel in Passo Gardena)

Day 2 walk in great weather and we summoned a meeting and kisershmarn break before climbing to dla Roa Furcia pass (2, 617m)

The apas (horse image 11) chose 2A variation where integrated VF short challenging ascent to Forcella (2, 740m), Nives

The lunch we had in the Puez rafiog which replaced the weather until we hold at the beautiful rafiog sunbathing lawn in front

Excessive motivation of the course decided to move three hours to El Paso and the decision in Gardena will later hail strong preaching shsofat us and escape us beneath the canopy. After about half an hour passed and storm the better weather so we could enjoy the walk and the bare rocks that accompanied us to the hotel CIR recommended in Passo di Gardena (Gr?dner pass). Speaking of the property line with rpiogis and to offer a deal of 49 euros per person with half board.

Walking day no. 3 (from Passo CIR Viel rafiog in Gardena to Dal Pan before the Marmalade ...)

The third day went for a rank level of difficulty as the inclement weather and not obscure makes.

Paso Gardena started climbing on the Satanic number 666 shocked him. The person was mild at first but grew in srpentinot

Until section VF not just completed him to Paz andPisciadu rafiog (Cavazza Franco) on Green Lake.

After a short coffee break and needed continued to climb in thick fog to a height of 2, 907m when we cross snow and sections dealing with fog and winds are freezing. The view that was supposed to be impressive and engrossing missed completely and we approached the Bamberger rafiog (Rif. Boe)

We were able to see a range of more than a few tens of meters.

After lunch we continued good weather improved and easy to change, Pordoi rafiog 2 829m little. From there we had to descend a slope sharp 600 m up the road or continue on an easy 10-minute climb and descend in a cable car (€ 6.30 open until 5 pm). In this type of selection modes we prefer the cable car over knee long decrease erosion and sharp. We started off in the saddle climb in the direction of Marmalade ... rules. The trail went through comfortably Jeep, along the green line ("bread") which on a clear day has a perfect view of the Marmalade ... the highest range in the Dolomites (3, 343m).

Relaxed and half hour brought us the best rafiog- Dal Pan Vielrafiog. To rafiog it is recommended to make a reservation because it is on a bike path and tends to fill up quickly. This is really a perfect rafiog. He also won the absolute location opposite the Marmalade ... and the rooms, showers and food.

Day walk no. 4 (Viel rafiog Dal Pan to rafiog Miralago in Passo San Pellegrino)

A challenging day and sunny. After resting and decrease Lake Fedaia at the foot of the Marmalade ... we need the cable (4.5 euros) to an elevation of 2600 m and then

We proceeded on 606 for the Marmalade .... Climbing the glacier itself turned out to be a lot easier than we expected as hundreds

People who have gone before us since the beginning of the season, has been quarried with ice comfortable route and had to stick to the existing track and stabilize the body with sticks

At the end of the glacier was not easy for her VF Paz Marmoladascharte at an altitude of 2900 m. At this point we had an option to leave the pods on the pass and continue on to the VF Marmalade ... long (does not require any special equipment to the top) as she had seemed to be a group of us in a few minutes. We stayed next to the original plan of the track and we're on a smooth VF apas was buried in snow. After a long decline and we stopped for lunch, rafiog clears the Contrin and wrong and started to climb half an hour on the wrong trail (608) until hatapsano and went back to the right path (607). Continuing our way not easy to type called Passo delle Cirelle that fall from it is possible for faster browsing on shpocht. Far below the Green Valley found Fuciade rafiog packed so we had to go an hour to rafiog that offers free access in adjacent to the Lake.

Day walk no. 5 (rafiog rafiog Mulez time Miralago)

At breakfast we parted and we rafiog of iralago on the road about 15 minutes to the small town of Passo di San Pellegrino. Turn right on the main road and is about 300 m are two good hotels, restaurants, sports shops and more. Who needs a treat in the middle of the trail can definitely build on this place. Today we went to the most challenging part of the Ridge for the infamous prangol. From San Pellegrino, a slight slope on skis and went out the other side in rafiog restaurant on the road at Passo Valles.

The second stage of the day to a rafiog prototype Velez was supposed to take 5 hours. but, unlike previous times, the time of the story turns out to be completely bogus and despite the difficulty climbing to rafiog, all the way down lasted us about 3 hours including breaks.

The PAS was mild type Valles and the good steep and threatening prangol that came with every Stride.

The last prototype Mulez rafiog was the hardest so far in a relatively short route but thus arrived early for the isolated rafiog (50 euros + 6 euro for 3 minutes shower!) and especially the conditions were the worst.

Walking day no. 6 (Mulez to rafiog rafiog Rosetta)

The sixth day was short and hard. After breakfast bun's turbid stream trout and coffee went cold cloudy weather to conquer the parangol vendor (2,932 m). What is the Far?ngole property and makes him so hard, is a combination of elements. On the way to La Paz, climbing and descending from him are crossing the snowy steep sections, and characters in simple, no free VF, strong winds and a cold too.

After crossing the pass and are starting to go down the line, encountering occasional steep sections of VF certainly charge out. As it was the shortest day on the trail and after 8 km in 4 hours we were completely exhausted, so we decided to stay in comfortable rafiog Rosetta also earned us the title of "rafiog with the best food in orbit"

Walking day 7 (rafiog rafiog Rosetta to Treviso)

Another rough day before us. Our decision yesterday to shorten the route and stop at Rosetta rafiog paid off in a big way after a crazy bird rain all night אחרה"צ. The morning began with a comfortable decline with an excellent view over the whole valley. After a short climb to Passo di Ball with standard VF

We stopped for coffee and cake at rafiog Pradidali. The arpiog started the climb to Passo delle completely hysterical Lede who broke the standard of difficulty

I placed the parangol. The weird thing in the steep section of the model codes, was just here decided to forgo VF and let the climbers looking for self grip on rocks. It's certainly not the thing I want to do in rainy weather or high winds. Hazard. A positive point in the terrifying climb the PAS was that it is a relatively short section.

After her comes the decline and in this case this is a decrease of. After an hour we reached the hut steep

Climbers Bivouac unmanned Carlo placed on Minazio shoulder. After a rest break knees continued rising rapidly depressing awful hours until we crossed the bottom of clear Creek Bridge. From this point climbed the path back to rafiog srpentinot Treviso 1,631 m tall and we needed a sausage plate, and grapoth just to start charging batteries to the southern part and the final tomorrow.

Day walk no. 8 (Rosetta rafiog date rafiog Bruno Boz )

The eighth day was a serious mistake in judgment. Whether day track not suitable to do it "of the book it today!

After standard type Pas d ' Oltro Forcella started moving along the line of great weather but was bad for maintenance level and parts thereof carried away so I had to do a bypass. Despite the bad, our walking pace was great and for two and a half hours we started down the road at Passo Cer?da

The lunch break on the excellent restaurant Agritur Broch 's together with a group of bikers.

Our problems started down the runway when the road walk + orchrit road brought us to a warning from the degree of difficulty of 801 Alpine. At any point before we sign and not yet not regard him. Very quickly it became clear that 801 should lead from this point to the end of the runway.

Is the path not only difficult but also dangerous. After an exhausting climb boulders up river, a glacier that we had to cross. I went first, but Eran behind suddenly lost balance and started to slide down the glacier. Fortunately and miraculously, contained in a narrow niche downfall and glacier off the event "with your crack, scrape hard batting right-handed and dry. Eran's injuries and the pace of our progress towards the Passo Del Comed?n

The Rwandan genocide was steep. Without great injury were the pass in less than an hour, but after the injury and the trauma injury, it took us two hours to climb to the top.

So we went to time clock problem shows 17 and us at least 4 hours to Boz rafiog. Click the extra time now also changing in character to a narrow path (Troi dei Caser?n) which means the width of the path not on foot while hathomot extended on to hundreds of meters.

To the non-manned of Feltre Bivouac arrived at 7 when according to the number of hours to have rafiog Boz. Up after the injury wasn't a chance to get to rafiog but unfortunately Feltre Bivouac was reluctantly fully played to reach the Boz even if that matter is headlamps.

At the end of the day we reach the rafiog and had to sleep on the ground without food and water as sharpiog far from us 20 minutes declining it failed to do in the dark

Day 9 and final walk (rafiog Bruno Boz to Croce d ' Aune)

After Vigil yesterday, arrived early for Boz rafiog recover for breakfast. The walking part of the day was a classic Ridge trail that gives wonderful views on the weather, but the margin of error it approaches zero. On the rock-cut long for and sometimes not exceeding 20 cm.

In terms of effort, the last part isn't easy, but also not unusual relative to AV2. We through some short steep Indian people many pieces to VF for problem areas. Some time went in easy and along the way passed several postings apparently dropped in travelers to their deaths.

After 4 hours the Virgo left the narrow part to open was from "sniffing" the end of the path. It wasn't long and the path became a gravel road

That led to easy climbing rafiog Dal Piaz Dennis who goes on the AV2 but serves as an attractive spot for hikers and colon.

Rafiog del piase, until the end of the trail there's only an hour and a half the chorchrit decline, as the time for every operation is not shortcut keys cuts.

After 180 km and nine days, we reached the end point in the hotel's restaurant Croce d ' Aune.

We just took a cab (25 euros) to the train station in Feltre and entertainment last night.

Omar I will today and tomorrow to update the message will open with all the information.
At any stage you don't need during peak snow equipment beyond the walking sticks. At the beginning of the season it is highly recommended to obtain krampons and axe since large amounts of snow and not enough on travelers to plot a route.

Hello Amnon,
We are planning a trip in the coming weeks, and I was happy to discover that there is a detailed summary of all the most important information. In rashothch, a few more questions on the subject:
1) is there camping areas along AV2 can sleep in tents? Are there enough places like this to rely solely on them Do you think carrying sleeping equipment can be problematic in terms of the difficulty of the track?
2) which of the routes is more impressive, AV1 or AV2?

Hello

In AV1 2 camping is prohibited, fire or cook in the open. Accommodations and eating are limited to hotels, rpiogis and a number of climbers huts is not manned (Biv) scattered along. So far we have not yet come across a jurisdiction that imposes these guidelines but also the perpetrators have not yet encountered them.

AV2 route is longer and taller and harder and prettier and less mtweir from AV1.
However, in most cases more rpiogis AV1 and the much more convenient for walking and controls.

Do not use special equipment. The problem with all VF is snowy shamslul then sections of pegs and cables may be found under the snow.
We came across several modes of VF buried in the snow but we were able to maneuver on the rocks with a little resourcefulness.

There is no doubt that security equipment provides a lot more confidence but we decided to give it up for.

Hello everyone,
Returned today from AV2 (9 more days before-description will be here soon). Our story a little different since there's almost every day in the tent and take food with us.
I intend to upload soon corrected story (link to Amnon sent) with whoever goes with tent (where to sleep, where to purchase, etc.). In the meantime whoever comes near is welcome to call me.
Just a correction to what Amnon said:
Basically, the law says that camping is permitted anywhere along the trail with the exception of the enunciated, and fire. Within the us inspectors have been in the morning and move you if you sleep there (which actually already too late). Need a misfortune to befall such inspector anyway but should not be seen as a recommendation for me to break the law. Can also give a penalty but not doing it I guess.

Amazing.

I understand that there's no comparison at all between AV1 2 in terms of difficulty.
