Hello

The upcoming trip from Verbier to Zermat haven't found a partner and took what samuil and I'm going to rent a satellite device. Not sure what to look at. Only 911 (with alarm button help) or a satellite phone? Anyone have any experience with them? What about the donation?

Gregg.

I think it will fit you can send/receive text messages without a Smartphone interface.

I'd want what FastFind hired. This is a device for emergencies only (since I used it, I cannot attest to how well it works), but it is expected to transmit emergency distress signal stronger intensity of the SPOT or InReach. Has no feature of send (presets or not) and/or to receive messages. On the other hand is less expensive (to Kenya because he doesn't have any monthly plan just the device itself I guess bshchirot is also cheaper no comparative)
I went with a Smartphone, and it was enough for me to these needs (but of course not been recorded anywhere).

I looked at a map cellular antennas-think you can't trust phone along the way.
I think on who does send text messages. The main goal is to send my wife eokis with the current locations. Of course the distress is another thing that I have.

Thanks folks,

Probably take what inReach name enrich or Israel? It seems to me not a bad option. What his weigh 190 grams, not UL. What did I leave at home my phone it 75 grams and thus pay 115 grams for the sat phone. In ASA.

Not overboard. If you have and inreach's trip a couple of weeks, you don't have to carry a phone, too. Just to know that always posts are, so it is better to coordinate expectations in advance.

I think we should do to my mother-in-law this:) Forum user name Anyway know her very well.

Nahum, to activate the phone in Switzerland need to get a SIM card and pay for it. But if there is already one media to take another one.

From what I read in reviews, writing posts on INReach cumbersome, app for smartphones helps.

Secondly, as pointed out by on-don't build on every message comes (i.e. don't be worried at the absence of posts).

Noam, Harmonix, thanks for your comments.
If you can't rely on this device for sending messages, you can rely on sending SOS? It kind of ruins the whole thing.
About writing messages directly on the device, I saw a video on YOUTUBE. You're right, Harmonix. But I don't have a Smartphone anyway.

You have another option:
SPOT only-transmitter GEN3 114 g (including batteries).
Private + (use-and have!). Http://small-world.co.il/%D7%A1%D7%A4%D7%95%D7%98-spot/

Or: a satellite phone since the trip is long, I guess keep relatively high rent prices.

Nahum, thanks. The SPOT is running on the Globalstar network significantly reduced the amount of satellites. Or they have increased the number of satellites and I am not up to date? Anyway, if the situation is as I said you can not trust minutes of Windows every day.

The SOS should be much more reliable delivery of messages. I'm not sure they are all working on the same network. But actually I don't have much idea.

.

There are 2 main differences between sending a distress message to:

1. standard message is sent once (or a few times), compared to a distress message sent in sequence.

2. some devices the SOS message sent in two different frequencies, which should increase its chances to be absorbed.

You need to decide whether home care communications. If you're ready to give it up, so get real PLB (like ACR ResQLink)-more reliable, and cheaper.

Otherwise, go for the InReach or SPOT (believe they'll work well when necessary).
