Hello everyone,
I came in mid-August to California and I want to do some trail (six-month). My plan to start up iosmeti. I realized that you can skip sections hitching, buses and even see places to rent boats. I wanted to get recommendations about places not to be missed. I also want to buy the equipment in the United States, I would like the recommendation places.
Thank you very much.

Actually if iosmeti to start, why not go south and take the JMT FILMS DISTRIBUTION, or other aseira sections?
If so, I was just trying to go north until you run out of time. You could probably get to Chester area (roughly the middle of the PCT), and so on. The trail is nice, especially when you see Mt. Shasta for couple of weeks. While the PCT I don't recall that there were many exceptions, but I guess I have been spoiled after the Sierra. Anyway, you can always decide every road crossing, to grab a ride North, and you feel like skipping. Might be worth you jump really North to reach the Crater Lake in Oregon. This is definitely one of the most beautiful spots on the trail. Decide if you prefer to walk to it, or to get him a ride/bus.

About equipment-of course you can buy better equipment and the prices aren't bad at REI (you can see their prices on the Web, and to buy and collect specific camps). There are other successful equipment sites as backcountry or Sierra Trading Post, and of course all the sites of the manufacturers recommended cottage. Ask about specific pieces of equipment and give you recommendations.
